dear sir

(2000)

This is a story that just kind of came about as I played. It's about a man who meets the Lord much later in life, all because of a letter his wife (who passed away) wrote to him about how much she wants to someday see him again in heaven. It just said to me that we should never give up on praying for someone. We never know God's will as to when their hearts will be softened and their lives changed.

He was an older man, on his way to her grave
He remembers when, he had begged her to stay
He laid his head down, next to the imprint of her name
He let his guard fall, and Sir wept that day

She had said, dear Sir I was yours everyday that I breathed
And now I’ve gone before you
Dear Sir don’t you worry about anything, cus there’s a place for you
In heaven with me, I am waiting here

He was an older man, he had a good life
Two grown kids and the memory of a beautiful wife
Dear Sir was of working class, folks thought he’d make it through the winter
Dear Sir knew his time had come and he read his wife's letter

She had said, dear Sir I was yours everyday that I breathed
And now I’ve gone before you
Dear Sir don’t you worry about anything, cus there’s a place for you

Dear Sir I was yours everyday that I breathed
And now I’ve gone before you
Dear Sir say yes to Jesus, and then you can see
All He has for you in heaven with me
